Explorer Application

The Explorer Post is the North Madison Volunteer Fire Company’s junior division. Youths age 14-21 are eligible to join and participate at varying levels based on age and experience.  Explorers participate in their own specialized drills as well attend regular fire department drills and training exercises. Once all entry level training is completed, explorers can respond to emergency calls with the fire department.  The state of Connecticut, OSHA, and the Boy Scouts of America have several restrictions in place due to age. For example, explorers can not breath air from an SCBA or actually go inside a burning building.  However, our Explorers have consistently proven to a valuable assent at any emergency scene, eagerly handling any task given to them within their scope of practice.
