Motor vehicle accidents are one of the most common emergencies in Madison. Explorers train extensively in this have proven themselves to be an asset at accident scenes.  The pictures below are from some of our recent vehicle rescue drills.

The white car is being raised by lifting air bags. These air bags raise a vehicle up to free a person trapped under a car. This is most often a result of a car vs pedestrian accident. However another common cause is vehicle occupants not wearing a seatbelt, getting ejected from their car, and the car subsequently comes to rest on top of them. Always buckle up!

Pictures following that are using the various hand tools and power tools for gaining entry to a damaged vehicle. This includes the “Jaws of Life”.  You’ll also see how we stabilize vehicles to prevent them from rocking while we work on it.
