Scene Safety

YOU CAN HELP US AT AN ACCIDENT SCENE...

...Without ever getting out of your car

Accident scenes are a world unto their own.
We need YOUR help to make it a safe world!

All members of the town emergency services appreciate the cooperation of other motorists while we are helping those involved in the accident.

SLOW DOWN WHEN YOU SEE AN ACCIDENT SCENE!

  • DO slow down and if necessary, STOP.
  • DO look for changes in the traffic pattern around the accident
  • DO look for personnel directing traffic
  • DO stop when directed to stop and do so immediately.  Do not keep coasting slowly.
  • DO proceed through the scene slowly when directed to do so
  • DO look for signs indicating what you should do
  • DO watch out for emergency services personnel walking around the scene
  • DO watch out for emergency vehicles arriving and departing the scene

  • DO NOT stare at the accident scene or flashing lights while your vehicle is in motion
  • DO NOT honk your horn. Rest assured, it will not get you though any faster
  • DO NOT make sudden movements
  • DO NOT assume anything.  Do only as directed the police or firefighters directing traffic
  • DO NOT disregard the directions of the personnel directing traffic
