Scenario: This drill was designed to combine all the structural firefighting skills into one big simulation. A pile of wooden palets was set ablaze in our rear parking lot to simulate a “bedroom fire”. The firehouse was then filled with artificial theatrical smoke, the lights shut off, and the fire alarm activated. This created, as near as possible, realistic conditions. The explorers and adult drivers were sent away to a nearby parking lot to await being dispatched. They then responded following our response order as if it was a real incident.
The first engine was to arrive and lay in the 5” LDH from our side parking lot as if it was the driveway of a house and proceed up to the building. The crew was the responsible for hooking up the supply line, deploying a 1.75” attack line, and advance through the building to the back parking lot and extinguish the fire.
The tanker was to arrive next and hook up to the supply line.
And finally the rescue arrives 3rd and is responsible for laddering the building and setting ventilation fans.
